An online tool aimed at supporting people to get into work and to stay in and progress in work has been launched.

Sidekick is a motivational psychology-based personal development tool and has been developed as part of inspiringwork.org – the recently launched website spanning the full employment and skills agenda in Somerset, Devon, Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.

Users create a character and are led through a pathway of their own creation via the different choices they make. They are then signposted to support they may need.

Mark Yeoman, head of ESF Convergence Communication, said: “Sidekick is a great additional boost to support and inspire jobseekers. Both ESF and mainstream organisations, including both DWP and the Skills Funding Agency, are investing in jobsearch and vocational skills.

“These work alongside advice from Jobcentres and the National Careers Service in helping people access the support they need on their journey into work. The informal nature of Sidekick will sit alongside and support these mainstream activities.”
