Fortdown Developments Ltd is to start work on the first phase of its speculative business park development at Quintrell Downs next month, after securing £2 million of ERDF grant funding with the help of RJM Property & Development Consultants.

Completion of the high quality scheme is scheduled for late spring of 2014. Alder King and Stratton Creber Commercial have been appointed agents.

Strategically located between Newquay and the A30, the scheme will provide 16,344 sq ft of high quality industrial space in six units constructed to BREEAM Excellent standards, and will also be fitted with Solar PV and other environmentally-friendly technologies. The first buildings to be constructed will include a terrace of four units, each providing 1,832 sq ft of space and two larger semi-detached units each offering 4,508 sq ft of space.

Tom Duncan, head of agency at Alder King’s Truro office, said: “As the first completely new speculative industrial scheme in the county for several years, this is a highly significant development.

“Made viable as a result of the grant funding, it will provide Cornwall with much needed Grade A industrial space and employment opportunities. Demand for quality space is always strongest for sites close to the A30 which has once again been confirmed by the several serious expressions of interest we’ve already received from Newquay-based companies.”
