Local entrepreneurs took a step closer to winning a share of a £100k prize fund to kick start their business this week, as the first Ignite start up business workshops got underway.

Ignite 2012, Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly’s business planning competition, hosted the first of four, two-day workshops this week at The Alverton Manor, Truro.

The aim of the workshops is to explore the elements essential to successful business planning, ranging from finance to marketing, presentation skills and strategy.

Aimed at local entrepreneurs, the sessions deliver practical advice from Oxford Innovation’s business coaches, helping attendees to prepare to enter Ignite 2012.

Andrew Finley, Oxford Innovation business coach and Ignite workshop speaker, commented: “The first of the Ignite Experience workshops has been a great success. The delegates are absorbing all of the business advice and have embraced the group work wholeheartedly.

“It is a testament to the vibrant business community in Cornwall that there are so many exciting and innovative business ideas being entered into Ignite this year.”
