Oxford Innovation’s Coaching for Growth programme is continuing to deliver results.

The Convergence-funded initiative has been running for two years, providing business help to a wide range of companies looking to grow.

Since working alongside two Oxford Innovation coaches, manufacturer EDS has doubled its turnover and taken on four additional members of staff and expanded into new premises.

OMC (Optoelectronics Manufacturing Corporation) has also benefited from Oxford Innovation input, as it looks to grow by 300% over the next five years. Oxford Innovation has helped develop strategic options and a five-year financial plan, in tandem with an operational plan.

Another company Oxford Innovation has assisted to grow is Bude-based Schoolcomms; a business providing electronic messaging systems for schools and colleges.

Schoolcomms has increased turnover 100% year-on-year for the previous three years, expanding from a two-person company to a team of 12.

Director Frances Perkin said: “Growing so fast has presented problems and it is very helpful to be able to talk through the issues. The dynamic combination of our in house team expertise, passion and commitment and Grow Cornwall’s specialist support resulted in us hitting a £1 million turnover ahead of target.”
