Based at Heartlands in Pool, the charity’s core purpose is to focus on the wellbeing and support of combat veterans and their families. Sapience says it wanted to support a local charity which had an element of helping people to get back to work.

The charitable organisation uses surfing and the beach environment as a means to escape the daily barriers faced by those who have returned from conflict and who may possibly be suffering from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) or physical injuries.

Sapience director, Sue Hook, said: “As a business, our philosophy is that we help businesses realise the true value of their people. The fact that we can support a charity which helps people realise their own true value and worth and supports them in such a way that they can return to work, is a privilege.”

Surf Action’s welfare manager, Fay Dutfield-Horton, said: “With demands for our service increasing we are very pleased that Sapience HR has chosen us as their nominated charity for this year. It has been a challenging time for us financially and we appreciate the support that the local business community can give us.”
