Cornish charity and activity centre BF Adventure has set up a friends’ scheme to reward its supporters who donate money or volunteer their time to keep the organisation running.

BF Adventure, which helps disadvantaged and disaffected young people at its activity centre at Goodygrane near Penryn, has joined forces with local businesses to offer a number of benefits to those who assist the charity.

To become a member of the BF Adventure Friends’ Scheme, supporters can donate just £2 a month or more, or offer their time for free by volunteering for at least eight days a year in a number of roles.

In return, the friends receive a membership card entitling them to a number of benefits such as discounts at the St Michael’s Hotel and Outback Trading in Helston plus money off at Cornish Food Market and activity days at BF Adventure.

Members will also be kept up to date with new developments at the charity with quarterly newsletters, meetings and training for volunteers and an invitation to a special ‘thank you event’ during the summer.

Jaye Cowe, marketing executive at St Michaels Hotel, said: “It is important to us at St Michael’s Hotel that we support local businesses and this project is a fantastic way to get involved in a worthwhile cause, we are delighted to be involved.”

Britta Hoffmann, marketing manager at BF Adventure, added: “The Friends’ Scheme is our way of rewarding the people who work with us, both volunteers and donors, who make a difference to the lives of hundreds of young people each year.

“We will be adding to the benefits package throughout the year as more businesses come on board.”
