Organisers of the Fal River Walk 2011 are calling for more people to enter the sponsored event and raise money for three Cornish charities.

Rotary Club of Truro Boscawen organise the walk on Sunday, May 29, part of the Greenbank Fal River Festival, around the Carrick Roads between Falmouth, Trelissick and St Mawes.

This year’s beneficiary charities are Cornwall Air Ambulance Trust, BF Adventure and Help for Heroes.

So far 100 people have entered the event, which offers two routes – the long walk at 14 miles and short walk at five miles.

Organisers hope to double the number of people taking part, with each participant encouraged to raise up to £100 or more in sponsorship.

Geoff Rumbles from Truro Boscawen Rotary said: “Last year we raised nearly £20k, which was a fantastic sum for local charities.
