Cornish Olympic gold medallist Ed Coode is speaking at a special evening next month to support farming charity the Royal Agricultural Benevolent Institution (RABI).

Supported by Cornish law firm Coodes Solicitors and estate agents Savills, the Sporting Heroes Dinner and Charity Auction takes place on Friday, April 1 at St Mellion Golf Club.

Bodmin-born Ed was a member of the British team which won gold in the coxless fours rowing event at the 2004 Athens Olympics. He now works for family legal firm Coodes in the Private Client department.

He said: “I’m so pleased to be able to support a charity which supports local farming families in need. I’m looking forward to the evening and hope we can raise valuable funds for RABI.”

The evening involves welcome drinks and a four-course meal before a charity auction, which includes several sport-themed special lots.

Going under the hammer will be tickets to the BMW PGA Golf Championship at Wentworth, a football signed by Manchester United, tickets to a Middlesex County Cricket match and a photograph of the 1966 World Cup “They think it’s all over” goal signed by Sir Geoff Hurst.

Tickets cost £40 each or £300 for a table of eight. For more information contact Mrs Spackman by telephone on 01872 500902 or email.
