A local charity is calling on all high-flying business types to take the Corporate Skydive Challenge.

Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW) is appealing for local companies to take to the skies in aid of the Precious Lives Appeal at special corporate skydive days being held at Perranporth Airfield on May 27 and September 9.

Bernadette Thoreau, corporate partnerships fundraiser for CHSW, said: “Doing a skydive is an amazing once in a lifetime experience, after which you feel a massive sense of achievement – an achievement that feels all the greater in the knowledge you are helping a good cause.

“For companies, taking part in one of our skydive days is a great way to increase your corporate social responsibility, bring staff together in a unique team building opportunity, and gives you something really positive to shout about!”

The journey starts with a nerve tingling plane ride up to around 10,000ft and then, securely strapped to your instructor, you exit the plane and dive through a gut wrenching, exhilarating 30 seconds of freefall, reaching speeds of around 120 miles per hour.

But don’t worry, there is still time to relax and soak up your achievement, as at about 5,000ft, your parachute is deployed and you can enjoy the gentle float back to earth.
