The Twestival committee

The third annual global fundraising event Twestival takes place later this month.

Hundreds of events will be held across the world on Thursday, March 24, with the purpose of raising money for charities local to them.

Cornwall Twesitval Local will actually be counting down to the big day the night before, with a pyjama party at Starbucks in Chiverton Cross (11pm).

The Twestival concept, which started on the micro-blogging platform Twitter in 2009, aims to connect people offline at the same time as raising money for worthy causes.

Cornwall Twestival will be looking to raise funds for the Cornwall Community Foundation, with a series of events planned throughout the day, culminating in a party at the Retallack Resort and Spa.

Tickets for all events need to be purchased in advance. For full details of the programme, and to book your tickets, click here.

The Twestival committee celebrated the announcement of the full programme at Perranporth Beach on Saturday afternoon with a photo shoot. Sadly, dedicated committee member Martin Philp (pictured far right) died shortly after this photograph was taken. Martin’s family have kindly given permission for the image of Martin and his fellow committee members to be used to promote Twestival, an event he was extremely passionate about.

Martin will be sadly missed by everyone involved in Cornwall Twestival and amongst the digital community in Cornwall, of which he was an active member.

This year’s Cornwall Twestival Local will be dedicated to the memory of Martin Philp.
