Tim Brinkman has announced that he is leaving the Hall for Cornwall (HfC) for a new job downunder.

Brinkman, who has been director of the Truro venue for the last ten years, has been appointed as executive of performing arts at the Arts Centre in Melbourne, and will be leaving HfC in early March.

Trustees have already begun the process of appointing a successor.

Brinkman said: “I will greatly miss Cornwall, its people and Hall for Cornwall in particular. I’m proud at how successful it has become and grateful to its marvellous staff who work so hard to give Cornwall a theatre it can be proud of.

“The venue is very well supported by local audiences, even during these challenging times. Whoever is appointed will find it a great place to work.”

Peter Davies, chairman of the HfC Trustees, added: “It’s a tremendous accolade for HfC to be well respected in the theatre world and that our Director is head hunted from the other side of the world.”
