With their sights set on raising more than £5k by the end of the year, Newquay’s The Bay Hotel and The Esplanade Hotel have announced their official support for the Cornwall Air Ambulance Trust (CAAT).

A charity events and fundraising schedule has been launched and it is hoped the proceeds will cover the cost of 18 new flying suits for the CAAT paramedics.

Widely regarded as an essential emergency service, Cornwall Air Ambulance receives no central Government funding and this year alone a total of around £1.6 million will need to be raised to keep Helimed 101 in the air.

“As a coastal hotel we feel a close attachment to Cornwall Air Ambulance which is often called out to nearby beaches especially during the summer months,” said Director of The Bay Hotel, James Nettleton. “Everyone here is really keen to show them our support and we feel it’s an excellent charity to be involved with. After all, they save lives on a regular basis.”
