Organisers of Cornwall Twestival Local have announced that Country Holidays for Inner City Kids – CHICKS will be the official charity for the event, which is due to take place at The Bedruthan Steps Hotel from 7:30pm on Saturday September 12.

As the official charity, CHICKS will receive the full proceeds from all Twestival Cornwall Local tickets sold, as well as proceeds from the auction on the night itself and any additional funds raised at the event.

CHICKS was selected as the official charity after an online vote.  Charitable organisations were able to nominate themselves, or be nominated by others, to be the official Cornwall Twestival Local charity.  The public were then invited to take part in an online vote to select their preferred charity.  CHICKS received more than 500 votes making it the most popular charity and therefore the named charity for the event.

CHICKS provides free respite breaks for disadvantaged and vulnerable children aged 8 to 15. They include children in care; those suffering poverty, illness or bereavement; child carers; victims of abuse and crime; and children whose parents are addicts.

CHICKS gives these children a free, fun-filled break in Devon or Cornwall, where they make new friends, enjoy new experiences, grow in confidence, motivation and ambition, and leave with an increased sense of self worth.

In the past five years, CHICKS has helped more than 220 children from Cornwall and the money raised at Cornwall Twestival Local will go towards purchasing games and equipment for the children’s centre, including; a pool table, volleyball stands, netting & balls, 30 pairs of wetshoes, equipment for beach activities and swimming, plus additional equipment for other outdoor team/ball games.

One of the organisers, Aren Grimshaw, Marketing Director at Tonick Media, said:

“We are really pleased to be able to announce CHICKS as the official charity for the event as all the money raised through Cornwall Twestival Local will directly benefit young people in Cornwall.

“I hope that everyone attending the event, and those yet to buy a ticket, see that our event can really make a difference through raising money for this worthy cause. I’d like to encourage everyone to play a part in this event and help us to support CHICKS by buying a ticket, donating an item for the Twestival auction, or making a donation with one of our £15 ‘apology’ tickets.”
