What do a Cornish mapping company and a butcher have in common? Both were prize winners at the Rural Business Awards.

Penryn-based Clear Mapping Company was Highly Commended for Best Rural Creative or Media Based Business, while James Kittow Butcher and Grazier Highly Commended for Best Rural Manufacturing Business.

Based at Kilhallon Farm, Par, James Kittow Butcher and Grazier runs a small herd of Pedigree Red Ruby beef cattle and a Kilhallon herd of Pedigree Dexter cattle.

Rural Business Awards co-founder, Anna Price, said: “The Clear Mapping Company stood out for us because it was so different from the rest of the entries we had in this category. The company offers an elegant and unique map illustrating service and we had pleasure in awarding it highly commended.

“As for James Kittow, we felt there was much to admire in how well managed this business was, and how it had a clear and positive impact on the farming industry. Very well done to both of these very different businesses.”
