The shortlist for the Cornwall Sustainability Awards tenth anniversary has been announced.

The shortlist for the 2012 Cornwall Sustainability Awards has been announced. Businesses will be hoping to follow in the footsteps of 2011’s winners.

Businesses and individuals from across the county have been selected in the competition’s categories: Best Managed Company (small, medium and large), Low Carbon Business, Products, Services, Resource Management, Best Individual, Sustainable Construction (new build and retro-fit) and for the first time, the Green Shoots New Business award.

The winners will be announced at an awards ceremony taking place on Friday, December 7 at the Green Lawns Hotel, Falmouth.

Awards co-ordinator, Gitty Ankers MBE, from the Environment Agency, said: “The aim of Cornwall Sustainability Awards is to encourage, reward and gain recognition for some of the excellent work businesses in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly are doing to improve their sustainability.

“We had many excellent applications this year and the initial shortlisting process gets harder every year and we’re happy we can hand over the hard work to the judges to select the overall winners.”

The judging team comprised of Matt Coleman from Health, Safety and Environmental Solutions; Mark Summers, head of environmental services for Cornwall NHS Trusts; Chris Pomfret, chair of the Cornwall Local Enterprise Partnership; Caroline Digby, the Eden Project; Daphne Skinnard, assistant managing editor at BBC Radio Cornwall; and Gitty Ankers MBE, senior environment officer for the Environment Agency.

The team was also joined by Jon Hyatt from Hendra Holiday Park, which was named Overall Winner at the 2011 awards.
