Tourism businesses from Cornwall have triumphed in the VisitEngland Awards for Excellence 2012.
Gold was bestowed on Gwel an Mor in Portreath, which won the title of Caravan Holiday Park/Holiday Village of the Year, while south east Cornwall’s Pentillie Castle & Estate came out tops in the B&B/Guest Accommodation of the Year category.
Bodmin Visitor Centre scooped silver for Visitor Information Provider of the Year and the Roseland-based Roundhouse Barn Holidays had double success with silver for Self Catering Holiday Provider and was Highly Commended in the Bed & Breakfast/Guest Accommodation category.
The accolades were presented at a ceremony hosted by the national tourist board at the art-deco Athena in Leicester.
Malcolm Bell, head of VisitCornwall, Cornwall Development Company’s tourism service, said: “Once again I am tremendously proud of our tourism industry, to see the county so well represented in the national finals is an impressive achievement.”
Bill Haslam, MD at Gwel an Mor, added: “Winning the UK Holiday Village of the year is an amazing and well deserved achievement and I am so proud of our dedicated staff who have really earned this award.”
