Three Cornish tourism businesses have reached the finals of the Enjoy England Awards for Excellence 2011.

The Porthminster Café in St Ives has been nominated in the Taste of England category, while the RED Hotels group, which comprises The Scarlet and Bedruthan Steps Hotel in Mawgan Porth, is up for a Sustainable Tourism award.

Cornwall is also represented in the Best Tourism Experience category by Global Boarders Gourmet Surf Experience in association with Ben’s Cornish kitchen – a sustainable surf experience combined with a Chef-led cookery master class.

Malcolm Bell, head of tourism at VisitCornwall, said: “As a destination Cornwall is often named top in surveys and boasts a credible list of award titles but businesses are the backbone of the industry and are to key to Cornwall’s success and popularity.

“I am proud to see the county represented at a national level and to have one Cornish finalist let alone three is truly impressive. I wish them the best of luck for the award ceremony in April.”
