Sustainability Awards guest speaker

One of the country’s most recognisable faces of architecture and design has been unveiled as this year’s Cornwall Sustainability Awards’ celebrity guest speaker.

Charlie Luxton, who is currently working on two series for the BBC and designing more than a dozen sustainable homes, has been announced as the keynote speaker and will be speaking at the ceremony about his passion for sustainability.

The writer and presenter has also appeared on Channel 5’s Build a New Life in the Country, BBC’s Restored to Glory, Ice Dreams, Designer of the Year, Guerrilla Homes, and Bionic Buildings, as well as Channel 4’s Not All Bricks and Mortar and Not All Houses are Square.

Taking place Friday, December 3 at 11.30am at the Royal Cornwall Showground’s Pavilion Centre, the event is free and places can be booked by clicking here.

Luxton said: “I’m really excited about being asked to talk at the Cornwall Sustainability Awards this year.

“As people know I am passionate about sustainability, so it’s fantastic to see the achievements of businesses in Cornwall being celebrated.”

The results of the awards will once again be announced by TV presenter and former Lieutenant Colonel, Dick Strawbridge MBE. The host of BBC’s It Ain’t Easy Being Green, Coast and Crafty Tricks of War, has been part of the judging panel since 2008. He will be joined by Lady Mary Holborow who will chair the event.
