A Bude-based technology business has been shortlisted for a national award.

Schoolcomms provides communications solutions for schools across the UK and has been named as a finalist in the category of Leadership and Management Solutions at the BETT (British Education and Training Technology) Awards.

It is being recognised for its eCard toolkit, which provides an innovative way for schools to reinforce positive behavior by sending online congratulatory cards and messages to students.

Schoolcomms director David Burgess commented: “This really is a fantastic achievement for the business. This is the awards show everyone in this industry wants to be seen at and we are truly delighted to have received a nomination for eCards, a product developed here in Cornwall and one that is quickly becoming our flagship solution.”

And he paid tribute to the help his company has received from the Oxford Innovation Grow Cornwall programme to launch eCard.

“The support we have received from Oxford Innovation has really helped us in securing our position within a competitive marketplace,” Burgess said. “Schoolcomms is going from strength to strength and whatever the outcome in January, we’re proud to have been shortlisted.

Schoolcomms will discover whether it has been successful at a ceremony in London on January 12.
