A Penzance design company’s name is set to step into the national spotlight after two recent pieces of its work attracted the attention of the UK theatre world.

Channel Design – which works with companies such as Trevarno, Scarlet Wines, Aspects Holidays and St Mary’s Hall Hotel on the Isles of Scilly – designed the programme that has been named Best Super Deluxe Theatre Programme Award in the south west region from the National Operatic and Dramatic Association (NODA).

The company’s work for the Kidz R Us Christmas production of Robinson Crusoe, will now go forward to NODA’s national finals, the winner of which will be named in the Autumn.

At the same time, another example of Channel’s design work is set to be showcased in a forthcoming edition of Theatre Business – the UK’s leading magazine for the amateur theatre sector – after the programme it produced for the current Kidz R Us production of Bugsy Malone caught the eye of NODA Chief Executive Tony Gibbs who described the programme as, “without doubt the most original programme concept I have seen”.

Channel Design Director Emma Holmes said: “We’re thrilled that our work for Kidz R Us has been recognised at this level and are looking forward to see how the programme performs in the national final.”
