A Truro-based trainee accountant has beaten all other south west candidates in the latest Advanced Stage exams towards qualification as a chartered accountant – and was positioned ninth among all candidates throughout the world.

Nicola Bray, who joined the Truro office of south west accountancy firm, Bishop Fleming, as a trainee in 2004, was placed ninth in the latest wGlobaorldwide Advanced Stage Order of Merit by the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW). She was also positioned top of all 32 exam candidates in the South West region.

Bray joined Bishop Fleming under the “Modern Apprenticeship” scheme after leaving school. She qualified as an Accounting Technician AAT (Association of Accounting Technicians) and then went on to do her Chartered Accountant’s training ICAEW (Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales) with the firm.

She now becomes a fully qualified chartered accountant.
