The final shortlist of potential winners for next month’s Cornwall Sustainability Awards has been announced.
The judges, who include TV personality and environmentalist Dick Strawbridge MBE and Rachel Gill, environmental manager from last year’s Overall Winner Jasper’s abattoir, had the difficult task of reducing the entries to 41 hopefuls spread across eight categories plus an over-all winner and a life-time environmental contribution award.
Gill said: “It was an honour to be asked to judge some of Cornwall’s most sustainable businesses this year. Winning our category and Overall Winner in 2009 was an amazing achievement and really helped to highlight our environmental progress, so I know how important these awards are.”
Now in its seventh year The Cornwall Sustainability Awards is a key event in the county’s corporate diary, celebrating the environmental achievements of the region’s businesses and organisations, with many categories sponsored by local companies.
This year’s ceremony is being held at the new Pavilion Centre, Royal Cornwall Showground, Wadebridge at 11.30 on Friday 4th December 2008.
The event, which is free and includes a buffet lunch, is open to all businesses in the county who would like to help celebrate and support Cornish sustainability and network with other like-minded companies and individuals.
