Coodes Solicitors has decided to expand its residential property team following significant growth over the last two years.

Coodes achieved a 25% increase in residential property clients last year, against national market growth in property transactions of just 14%.

Between 2012 and 2014, Coodes grew its conveyancing business by 69%, while only 31% more UK houses were bought or sold in that period.

With a recruitment drive now underway to meet demand from clients across Cornwall and Devon, Coodes has recruited two experienced property experts.

Sarah Cowley joins from Essex law firm DC Law, where she ran the conveyancing team and helped expand the business from two branches to five. Marion Townsend brings nearly 25 years’ legal experience, including ten years as a conveyancing lawyer with south west firm Slee Blackwell Solicitors.

Meanwhile, another member of Coodes’ 22-strong residential property team, chartered Legal executive Jo Morgan, has been promoted to associate in recognition of her experience in residential property. Along with Sarah Cowley, she will act as assistant department manager to support head of residential property, Alistair Whyte.

Whyte said: “This impressive growth is a testament to our trusted reputation in Cornwall and Devon. Recent research has shown that more people would rather go to their local law firm than a national brand and when it comes to buying or selling a property we know that local knowledge is all-important.”
