Two local companies are collaborating in their quest to find the best administrators in the county.
In response to disappointing applications to vacancies within their own companies and associates’ organisations, Falmouth-based Fridaygirl.com and Hayle-based Sapience HR are holding an “Administrators Assessment & Training Day” at the Tremough Innovation Centre during the week commencing May 21.
Sapience HR director Sue Hook explained: “With clients across Cornwall, Sapience HR is a company with ambitions to grow. This is reliant on a strong team and an outstanding administrator to anchor it.
“Applications to my position were just not the right fit and I was surprised to find that this seemed to be a common problem when talking to colleagues within other companies.
“In the current economic climate we hear that there are highly qualified people who have been made redundant, or outstanding graduates looking for an opportunity, all desperate to secure a desirable position – however this is not my current experience of recruiting. I’m left wondering where are all these good people?”
Nicola Moule, director of outsourced business services provider Fridaygirl.com, added: “Finding new recruits who meet our high expectations and have the right skill set for what we need is difficult. In response we have designed a process to identify the best candidates – not only for ourselves but also associates who we know have vacancies.
“We are looking for exceptional PAs and administrators to place within a range of jobs on offer in a variety of local businesses. Strong applicants will be invited to our assessment day where they will be put through a range of tests in the morning including literacy and numeracy tests, team exercises, communication and presentation tasks.
“Candidates that have demonstrated strong skills in the morning will be invited to continue in the afternoon, where they will undergo psychometric testing, Microsoft Office tests and an interview.”
Applicants should submit a CV and covering letter stating why they are an exceptional administrator to [email protected] by noon on May 17.
