With the Equality Act 2010 due to come into force next month, Cornwall College has appointed an equality and diversity (E & D) co-ordinator.

Sue McDonald, who is based at the Camborne campus and has worked at the College for 17 years, has taken up the post alongside her role of project support officer.

In her new role, McDonald will work with learners and staff at the college to make sure that everyone who comes to the college is treated fairly and is given the opportunity to achieve.

The Equality Act 2010 replaces the existing anti-discrimination laws with a single act. According to the Government Equalities Office, it brings together, harmonises and in some respects extends the current equality law making it more consistent, clearer and easier to follow in order to make society fairer.
