With over 50 years combined experience in the manufacturing sector, the strengthening of the MAS-SW team with these appointments comes at a time when making lean improvements to reduce costs is a top priority for businesses.

An accomplished business specialist, Gilbert has been working across the region with a raft of business support groups ranging from the Federation of Small Businesses (FSB) to, Business Link and other sector based organisations.  More recently, he was the South West regional manager for sustainability experts, Envirowise.

He said: “I am really looking forward to the challenges ahead. We all appreciate that, as economic conditions continue to get tougher, manufacturers need to constantly look at ways improving performance. At MAS South West we can provide a range of tools and support to highlight where a company can make significant impact to their profits and keep ahead in these uncertain times.”

Phillips’ experience in the sector spans the automotive and mass customisation sectors.  He commented: “Micro manufacturers are the lifeblood of industry in the region and I am very much looking forward to helping develop the Info-Zone to assist them in implementing changes that could significantly impact their profits.”
