A programme designed to get Cornish businesses exporting is being proving to be a great success.

Cornwall Chamber of Commerce, partnered with the Department for International Trade, has been delivering workshops and events to support enterprises within the Duchy to access new markets overseas.

With the strapline “It’s just as easy to get a new client in Berlin as it is Birmingham”, Export for Growth is an ERDF-funded project which aims to encourage businesses to look into international sales as part of a growth strategy.

One such event is the ‘You Can Export’ masterclass, which remains a popular way for SMEs to create an export plan and start thinking strategically about how to bring sales in from overseas.

Two are planned for March and each one is designed to build confidence and enlighten companies about their capability to export. This includes services, as well as products.

Commenting on signup for the programme, Cornwall Chamber’s international marketing manager, Laura Barnes, said: “Export for Growth has reached 88% of its target with new initiatives looking to help a further 30 SMEs in Cornwall.

“Attending the masterclass sessions is a great way to access the support, which is fully funded.”
