Duchy College lecturer, Dr Hayley Randle, has been appointed as honorary president of the International Society for Equitation Science (ISES).
Dr Randle, who runs the BSc and Masters Equitation Science programmes at Duchy College, was a founding council member of ISES, when it was established in 2007.
The organisation was set up to promote and encourage the application of research and advanced practice which will ultimately improve the welfare of horses around the world.
She said: “I feel very honoured to have been elected by esteemed animal welfare scientists to this post and being part of the development of initiatives to improve the welfare of all horses.”
Duchy College currently offers the only equitation science degree courses in the world.
