Home and business owners in Cornwall who were affected by flooding between April 1, 2013 and March 31, 2014 can still apply for a grant of up to £5k to protect them from future flood risks.
The deadline for the Cornwall Flood Fund, which accesses funding made available to Cornwall from Westminster through the ‘repair and renew grant’, has been extended until January 9, 2015 and the eligibility widened to those also affect as early as April 1 last year.
Martyn Alvey, Cornwall’s community flood resilience manager, said: “This announcement is really good news for businesses and homeowners across Cornwall.
“The risk of flooding is a very real one in the county, but this grant, which is available to businesses or homes that suffered from internal flooding between April 2013 and March 2014 can enable preventative steps to be taken protect them in the future.”
The funding can also be claimed ‘retrospectively’ meaning people who have already invested in flood prevention measures may still be entitled to access the pot of cash.
