Louise Treseder and Pete Martin from the Driftwood Spars Brewery in St Agnes have been invited to Brussels to meet with MEPs and fly the flag for Cornwall.

The event, organised by The British Pub and Beer Group in the European Parliament, is being held to showcase the best of the region’s ales and is being billed as ‘A celebration of beers from the South West of England’.

Treseder, owner of The Driftwood Spars Brewery, said: “Cornish beer is really doing well at the moment, both nationally and internationally.

“At Driftwood we have picked up a number of awards including Supreme Champion Winter Beer of Britain for 2012 with Alfie’s Revenge so being able to take our products to Brussels, considered by many to be the European home of beer, is a real honour.”

As well as Alfie’s Revenge, the team will be showcasing a new beer called Lewsey Lou’s, which has been brewed especially for the fish shop of the same name, jointly owned by Louise Treseder and former England rugby union star, Josh Lewsey.
