A Cornish apprenticeship provider which is dedicated to helping small business prosper has won official national recognition.

The National Apprenticeship Service has awarded the Cornwall Apprenticeship Agency (CAA) full Apprenticeship Training Agency (ATA) status as an endorsement of its pledge to create 650 new apprenticeship placements in Cornwall over the next two years.

The CAA, which operates under parent company Cornwall Marine Network, was praised for its approach to brokering opportunities for the smallest businesses that previously faced the biggest barriers to engagement.

CAA tailors bespoke apprenticeship support and benefit packages, handling the recruitment and matching process, plus sourcing financial incentives.

Sarah Newton, MP for Truro and Falmouth, said: “I am delighted that Cornwall Marine Network, under the Cornwall Apprenticeship Agency, will now be working closely with the National Apprenticeship Service to deliver more local apprenticeships.

“Marine industry employers in Truro and Falmouth have a great record of providing high quality apprenticeships which have given many local people the skills they need to build successful careers – the newly formed Cornwall Apprenticeship Agency will help to build on this success.”
