Helston-based Frugi is embarking on a rather unusual recruitment strategy this summer. Instead of placing a traditional job advert it is instead running its very own ‘Apprentice’ competition.

The winner will be offered a full-time position as ‘junior childrenswear designer’ and will be responsible for helping to create its award winning range of organic cotton clothing for kids.

Potential candidates, from all over the UK, will be sent a design brief which will be judged by the design department to see which ‘apprentices’ are invited to the Frugi boardroom.

Jennifer Bolton, Frugi’s head designer, said: “I think that this is a great way to incentivise would-be designers to let their creative juices flow and get a real job at the end of it.

“The fashion world is notoriously fickle and it can be difficult to get a foot on the ladder. This competition is a great way for new designers to showcase their talents in front of a growing ethical brand.”

Would be apprentices are being invited to apply by emailing at Jennifer@welovefrugi.com by July 6.
