Unlocking Cornish Potential (UCP) has revealed details of the first batch of graduates to take part in its new Gateway initiative.

The first nine graduate recruits to UCP's Gateway scheme

Gateway has been launched to help graduates gain employability skills and work experience over a ten-week programme, while providing Cornish SMEs with an extra pair of hands to stimulate growth.

After an intensive two-day assessment process, the first nine graduates have been recruited onto the scheme and UCP’s Debbie Horner, who is managing the project, is excited at what they could achieve with the right support.

She said: “From social media strategy to project management, report-writing and Photoshop to electronic control systems, CAD software and Dreamweaver, we have some fantastic skills now on offer to early stage businesses across Cornwall.

“We’ve already had companies sign up for the chance to work with our Gateway graduates and are expecting demand to be high.”

The graduates are available for up to 60 hours per project spread over four weeks.
