A special free event to encourage farmers to make the most of ponds on their land is being held near Bude later this month.
Organised by Country Sports South West in partnership with Rural Focus, the event will demonstrate the practical steps that any farmer can take to generate income from different types and sizes of ponds.
The RDPE-funded ‘Focus on Pond Diversification’ event is taking place at Uppacott Farm at Kilkhampton on Wednesday April 25 and is open to any trading farm in Devon and Cornwall.
Annette Coles of Country Sports South West explained: “Here in the south west, the annual expenditure of anglers on fishing inland waters is around £100 million and the economic contribution of sporting shooting is worth in excess of £270 million.
“With such a high level of activity in these areas, it’s in every farmer’s interest to make the most of their natural resources and capitalise on the opportunities that exist.”
