Collaborate Cornwall in full swing

Today, more than 160 businesses are attending the first annual conference organised by Partner to Succeed and YTKO, Collaborate Cornwall, at the Tremough Campus in Falmouth.

The full day conference is showcasing successful business collaborations, and features high profile, inspirational speakers, including Michael Wilson, Roland Harwood and Pete Goss.

The conference kicked off this morning with a presentation by Michael Wilson, television’s longest serving business editor from Sky News. He discussed perspectives on the UK economy following the recent financial difficulties and the power of China, India, Brazil, South Africa and Indonesia.

Roland Harwood, PhD – Co-founder of 100%Open and former Director for Open Innovation at NESTA then presented on importance of working together with his keynote speech on collaboration not competition. He shared his definition of open innovation; innovating with partners by sharing the risks and the rewards.

Later delegates will hear from Cornwall Council’s chief executive, Kevin Lavery and the South West RDA’s head of business development, Stephen Bohane, about the latest local and regional plans affecting business in Cornwall.

The afternoon session will include presentations from Suzanne Emmett from the Yorkshire Enterprise Fellowship on the subject of collaboration and new technologies and Leo McLemen from the Peninsula Research Institute for Marine Renewable Energy (PRIMaRE) who will talk about collaboration in the marine sector.

Michael Wilson will end the early afternoon session by revealing the results of the Business Collaboration Survey, which is available from www.partnertosucceed.co.uk

The final session of the day is set to be an inspirational speech by world famous round-the-world yachtsman, Pete Goss MBE, on the power of collaborative teams.
