A Cornish travel agent is celebrating after being highlighted as a cruise specialist by one of the country’s leading agents.
Wadebridge and Newquay-based Wickers World Travel has been officially recognised by LCA – Leading Cruise Agents in the UK.
The company are now the only travel agent in Cornwall to be listed on the LCA’s website.
“This is fantastic recognition for us,” said Wickers’ managing partner, Brian Wick, who chartered the first cruise ship to sail from Falmouth.
“We’ve worked hard over the last few years to build up the cruise side of our business, so to be acknowledged for it is brilliant.
“It will give our business a further boost and drive more people to us, which will be great for us and the local economy.”
And according to Brian, despite the credit crunch, Wickers’ level of cruise sales and enquiries has remained constant.
“Its not surprising that cruises have remained popular,” said Brian.
“Over the last few years prices of the trips have come down making it more affordable, and once the trip is paid for the only thing people then have to buy on board is drinks.
“And as most cruises accepts sterling the impact of the current Euro and Dollar exchange rate is nullified.”
