Dozens of new offers of finance, support and free training

Cornish companies will find it easier to net the help they need to overcome the credit crunch, after 30 more organisations were added to a free online service helping businesses to find financial and practical support.

FactFinder helps businesses within Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly find out quickly what grants and loan finance, business advice and training opportunities might be available to them.

The free web portal is run by Cornwall Enterprise’s business intelligence service, Enterprise Edge, and, following a recent revamp, now lists offers of support from some 180 different organisations.

While not intended to be a comprehensive list, the easy-to-use FactFinder introduces visitors from all industries to a range of offerings – including funding sources they may not have been aware of.

For example, small and medium firms involved in the recycling sector can benefit from legal, management, marketing and capital support under the WRAP project.

Meanwhile, companies with big ideas might apply for Springboard funding. Designed to support innovation, the investment fund offers support in loan or grant form and is available to any public, private or voluntary organisation, including start-ups, in Devon, Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.
Cornwall Enterprise Managing Director John Berry says: “In the current climate, firms need to take full advantage of all of the help they are entitled to, and this FactFinder web portal will assist them to understand the support landscape.”

Enterprise Edge Manager Dominique Tregenza-Hall adds: “FactFinder brings together the activities of many public and statutory, national and local organisations in one place. The service is free and simple to use, so it takes literally seconds to discover whether you might be eligible to receive advice, training or funding.

“There are nearly two hundred organisations waiting to support businesses in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly. All you need to do is look on FactFinder for details.”
