Three wise monkeys Jessica Collings (researcher), Beate Galke (project manager), Martin Hockday (research analyst) and Robert Rush (managing director).

Bodmin-based specialists, PFA Research, has set up its own market research clinic for companies taking their first steps into facts and figures.

The PFA Research Market Research Clinic will offer businesses support from writing questions to analysing results.

“We often get companies coming to us who have created their own questionnaire and want to carry out their own surveys,”said PFA’s managing director, Robert Rush.

“There are a number of reasons why people feel they would prefer to do it on their own rather than appoint an independent expert, but we’re more than happy to help as we know the true benefit of market research.

“Market research can be the forgotten side of business planning, but it is extremely important as it enables you to find out what your customers think of you, your service or product, which in turn allows you to plan for the future.

“We have businesses come to us for advice when they are taking their first few tentative steps into research before they come back for a more rigorous campaign.”

Mr Rush believes that the clinic will suit start-ups through to businesses wanting to reassess their position in the market.

He said: “We deal with so many different types of businesses from one person companies right through to county councils, so we are well placed to help people begin the market research process.

“There are so many ways people can find out information but it’s important to use the most effective methods and make your efforts count.

“When you ask people about market research they invariably think of someone in the street with the clipboard, but that’s only a very small part of it. Now people can even run straw polls of social networking websites such as Facebook.

“The options are there and we are happy to be able to offer impartial support.”
