Truro-based healthcare consultant MJ Medical is celebrating its part in the financial close of the £430 million North Bristol Hospital PPP project.

MJ Medical’s team of specialist equipment consultants worked with Carillion and the North Bristol NHS Trust in all aspects of the equipment design for the hospital. Working with the design teams MJ Medical has progressed the design of the clinical rooms to ensure the hospital is “future ready”, allowing for inherent flexibility to adapt to new technology and clinical practice.

Danny Gibson, MJ Medical’s technical director said: “We are delighted to have been involved in this exciting and high profile project working in partnership with Carillion and the Trust to achieve financial close on such a large project.”

The new state-of-the-art 800-bed hospital, which includes an integrated 28-bed community hospital, will be the most sustainable major acute hospital in the UK, with a carbon footprint below the government target of 3.43Te CO2 a year and a BREEAM rating of excellent. Advance construction work started in August last year and the hospital is due to open in early 2014.
