A 50,000 sq ft Sainsbury’s supermarket and petrol station will be built on the outskirts of Helston on a site formerly used by the Flambards Experience as an overspill car park.

Advised by property consultants Alder King, Flambards sold the 4 acre site, which is located adjacent to the Flambards Experience, to developers Terrace Hill. Terrace Hill have agreed a deal with Sainsbury’s supermarket to build a new superstore with petrol station on the land.

The site was originally built as a helipad in the eighties, but was never used for its intended purpose. It was recently used by Flambards as an overspill car park, but was sold after it became surplus to requirements.

James Kingsford-Hale, managing director of Flambards commented:

“This sale has been a long, but good, process spanning more than four years. During this time we have worked closely with Terrace Hill to resolve all issues and we are delighted that the deal has completed. We would like to thank Alder King, in particular Tim Smart, for acting on our behalf and providing excellent advice throughout the negotiations.

“We feel that this sale will be good for the park and its future development. We are currently planning our next move, which will be the reinvestment of these funds into new infrastructure so that we can continue to offer one of the best holiday experiences in Britain.”

Flambards are one of the biggest employers in the region and continue to attract large numbers of visitors each year.
