More than 80 employees have been made redundant from a Cornish electronics company.

St Columb-based Infoteam International Services, which acts as a contractor to Sony, said the workers, who were on fixed-term contracts, were not qualified to do the level of repairs required.

Infoteam said there was a backlog of more complex work, which meant that there was no current work for the night shift to do.

The company recently opened a 25,000 sq ft unit in Hayle, but said the level of European orders had fallen.
