Trevarno Estate and Gardens has given its backing to Cornish charity BF Adventure, which specialises in delivering confidence-building outdoor activity programmes to young people and adults who are not in employment, education or training.

Over the next 12 months, Trevarno will be providing financial support as part of a corporate sponsorship, as well as looking into joint fundraising initiatives and opportunities to get the young people involved on a work experience basis or through workshops and visits to the historic grounds.

Founded 20 years ago and located near Falmouth, BF Adventure works closely with schools, colleges, social services and the local authorities to deliver tailor-made self-esteem boosting courses which feature everything from abseiling, climbing, and kayaking to archery, sailing, and woodland skills. Catering for young people from 7-19 years old, the centre also offers ‘breakaway days’ for families affected by unemployment, as well as corporate team-building days for local businesses. It was at one of these events that the management team at Trevarno became aware of BF Adventure’s cause and decided to get involved.

“BF Adventure makes a huge difference to the lives of many youngsters in Cornwall,” said Trevarno’s general ganager Richard Cox. “And that’s why we felt it was an excellent charity to support. We believe it’s important to work with the local community and we’re looking at lots of different ways to fundraise.”

Britta Hoffmann from BF Adventure added: “We’re hugely grateful to Trevarno for offering this commitment to us and we’re really looking forward to working with them.”
