South West Public Relations agency Deborah Clark Associates (DCA) has beaten off competition from across the region to scoop a Gold and Silver at a prestigious industry awards night.

The DCA team travelled to Bristol for the event (on Wednesday November 4) and joined 200 other PR practitioners to hear the winners announced in the West of England CIPR PRide Awards 2009, held at the Marriot Hotel.

DCA picked up Gold in the Not-For-Profit category for its work for Digital UK and a Silver Award in the Crisis Communication category.

The annual PRide awards, led by the Chartered Institute of Public Relations (CIPR) – the professional body for the PR industry – recognise outstanding success and achievement.

In the Not-For-Profit category DCA was rewarded for its work during the switchover to digital television in the Westcountry. The judges praised the team for producing a very comprehensive campaign, which clearly met objectives and achieved good media coverage in key publications.

As well as winning a Silver award in the Crisis Communications category, DCA was a finalist in the Corporate and Business Communications, Community Relations and Young Communicator of the Year categories.

“The whole team are absolutely thrilled with winning both a Gold and Silver award,” said co-director John Casey. “We were the only agency from Cornwall to be shortlisted and we were up against some of the very best agencies in the region, so scooping two awards really is a huge honour. I’d like to thank the whole DCA team for their outstanding work, and our clients who continue to give us such tremendous support.”

Tom Bowden-Green, Chair of CIPR West of England, said: “A CIPR PRide Award is a hallmark of professionalism and success – it identifies, recognises and rewards the outstanding achievements of those working in the PR industry outside of London. To win a CIPR PRide Award is a tremendous achievement.”

  1. Nice one, Shelley! Your Awards reflect well on the whole of Cornwall. Where do you put them all (not to mention all the frocks! I hope DCA give you a clothes allowance…)
