Business people from Devon and Cornwall have been told that the south west peninsula can punch well above its weight as far as the economy is concerned “if we all pull together”.
Delegates at the special Devon and Cornwall Business Council presentation heard how working in partnership and economic progress in Cornwall can benefit the whole south west peninsula.
Carleen Kelemen, director of the Convergence Partnership Office for Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly, said: “It is the sum of the parts that is greater than the whole and Cornwall is having a huge impact across the region.
“In these times of economic uncertainty – which include public sector cuts and the upcoming General Election – we are making progress by working together to a common agenda and by using our collective knowledge to add value to our economy on a local, regional and international level.
“I want us wherever we are across this peninsula, to pull together with no borders constraining us as we pursue a common agenda based on our shared values.”
Speakers at the event included the Peninsula College of Medicine and Dentistry; the Wave Hub and associated PRIMaRE (Peninsula Research Institute for Marine and Renewable Energy); Business Link and the University of Plymouth.
