Tourism Newquay is teaming up with VisitCornwall and Air Southwest to tempt visitors to Cornwall this winter as they launch the first Taste of Cornwall Roadshow on November 24  in Bristol.

Taking advantage of the festive crowds, Tourism Newquay and VisitCornwall will be setting up a demonstration kitchen in Bristol’s Cabot Circus on Tuesday 24 November to give stressed out shoppers a break from present buying with a taste of Cornwall.

As well as live cookery demonstrations by Nick Hodges, head chef at The Headland Hotel, there’ll be food giveaways, competitions and leaflet handouts to promote visitCornwall.com and VisitNewquay.org.

This will be the first in a series of foodie roadshows planned for Air Southwest departure points across the country such as Newcastle, Glasgow and Manchester and will be backed up by local press activity in each of the cities.

Richard Wilcox, business development manager for Tourism Newquay said: “This is the first of what we hope to be many Taste of Cornwall Roadshows. We are really pleased to be able to team up with VisitCornwall and to have the support of Air Southwest for this marketing initiative.

“As the official marketing body for Newquay, we are working hard to raise the profile of Newquay as a destination and promote all the great things the town has to offer, food being just one of them.”

Teresa Timms, PR Manager at VisitCornwall added: “The Taste of Cornwall Roadshow is a great way for us to showcase some of the best cookery talent we have in Cornwall, as well as the fantastic food we have on offer.  By teaming up with Air Southwest we are targeting potential visitors in key target market areas and making an impact in the heart of the city.

“We believe Taste of Cornwall will be an effective and innovative way of raising the profile of the county and Newquay as a year round destination.”

Visitors to the Taste of Cornwall kitchen will be treated to a selection of mouthwatering treats, freshly prepared by Nick Hodges.  Shoppers will also have a chance to win a two night escape to one of The Headland 5 star self-catering cottages for two people and two return flights from Bristol to Newquay with Air Southwest.

The Taste of Cornwall Roadshow is expected to run through until March 2010.
