Cornwall taking ‘e-den’ to London

Eleven of the Duchy’s environmental rising stars and pioneering ‘green’ projects are going to London during Cornwall Business Week next month to challenge the perception that the region is a tourism-only destination.
Marking the launch of InvestinCornwall, the county’s new international inward investment programme, the companies will be exhibiting at a purpose built ‘e-den dome’, based in Soho Square, between May 17 and 18.
The dome will showcase flagship initiatives such as the Eden Project, Clay Country Eco-Town and Wave Hub, along with companies specialising in ground source heat pumps, solar power, wind power as well as marine renewable consultancy and energy efficiency. A series of events being hosted in the e-den dome are aimed at financiers, relocation consultants and potential business investors.
Chris Bradford, CEO of vertical farming pioneer Valcent Products, one of the local businesses taking part in e-den, said: “This is an excellent initiative and the companies supporting it come from a range of environmental technology backgrounds. However, we all have one thing in common – we work in fiercely competitive markets and we need inspired marketing of Cornwall within the UK and around the world to help us and the local economy grow.”
Lucy Hunt, manager of InvestinCornwall, added: “It’s a very important and exciting time in the county’s economic development. Our work is about encouraging growth of the county’s economy and strengthening Cornwall’s position as a business location, it’s important there’s a good understanding, in the UK and abroad, of the skilled workforce and business opportunity that exists here.”
