Cornwall’s first Arrest and Plastic Restraint (handcuffing) training course for Infinitus security staff takes place in Falmouth this weekend.

Traditionally only police officers and other ‘official’ bodies have allowed their staff to use handcuffs or other types of restraints when arresting people, but this new training programme, accredited by Skills for Security, the security industry sector skills body, certifies and allows private security personnel to use the same equipment when carrying out lawful arrests of other members of the public.

Infinitus Security general manager Kim Phillips said: “I am very pleased to be hosting this training, as it allows door supervisors and security officers to address the ever increasing need to manage their own health and safety.”
